After taking photography at Humber College in Toronto I assisted for two years, gaining valuable practical experience. As a starving assistant I had to subsidize my chosen profession with another job and that work took me in a different direction; however, a few things remained constant in my life, a love for animals, working with people and taking photographs.
Now, by combining my diverse work experience and technical photographic knowledge I spend time photographing the world around me.
Besides photographing people and their pets I also sell wall art for homes and businesses at Joy Caravello Photography As Art.
My love for animals began at an early age when I used to coax dogs home, swearing they’d followed me. Of course, they already had homes and I’d return them to their rightful owners. Eventually and still, I had my own pets, all recued recruits. Now, I’m a volunteer with the Okanagan Humane Society and have been for the past several years. I’m also a member of the Canadian Disaster Animal Response Team (CDART) and I make regular donations to the BCSPCA.
